Dorothy Angote-Muya

Ms. Dorothy Angote-Muya is a senior policy and legal advisor/reforms expert. She is a lawyer and an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, with a solid and well-rounded career experience in the private and public sectors including the judiciary, the Governance, Justice, Law and Order sector and the Land sector. She has served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Lands, Registrar General of the Republic of Kenya and in the Judiciary. (Presidential Appointments).

Ms. Angote-Muya has engaged extensively at high levels of the United Nations, the Commonwealth, the African Union, and the East African Community. She has also engaged extensively with development partners, including the World Bank and IMF, DFID, USAID, UNDP, GTZ, SIDA, EU (DGSP) in bilateral and multilateral governance and policy dialogue and in carrying out development/reform programmes. She has served on regional and international bodies, including – as Vice President of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), based in Geneva, Switzerland, a Member of the Advisory Board of the International Centre for Democratic Transition (ICDT) based in Budapest, Hungary and was elected – twice, by the African Union Heads of State Summit as a Member of the African Union Advisory Board on Corruption (AUABC). She has also served on various Boards/Councils including: the East African Community Sectoral Council on Legal and Judicial Affairs, the Multi-Sectoral Council of the East African Common Market Protocol, the Kenya Vision 2030 Board, the National Housing Corporation Board, the Industrial Development Bank of Kenya Board, the Kenya Industrial Property Institute Board (Administers Intellectual Property Rights),the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya, the National Humanitarian Advisory Committee, the Council of Legal Education and the Kenya Cultural Centre (incorporating the Kenya National Theatre) Governing Council.

Ms. Angote-Muya is a proven and award-winning Chief Executive Officer under Government Performance Contract. She has been awarded, by His Excellency the President, the State Honour of the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS), First Class, for distinguished and selfless service. Ms. Angote-Muya is an alumnus of Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government and has a Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons.) degree from the University of Nairobi.
